The Asia eHealth Information Network (AeHIN), represented by Executive Director Mr. Jai Ganesh Udayasankaran, virtually participated in the networking session of the Inter-Governmental Learning Exchange to Advance Data-Driven Decision-Making (I-LEAD) workshop for Eastern European and Central Asian Countries held in Istanbul, Turkey on May 17, 2024.

The networking session titled “Leveraging Peer Connections for Post-I-LEAD Engagement: AeHIN, CARINFONET, HIN, OpenHIE, Shiriki” was organized by the I-LEAD implementation team and partners—US CDC, University of Washington, WHO Regional Office for Europe, and PATH.

It brought together different community networks within digital health, including AeHIN, Central Asian Informatics Network (CARINFONET), Health Information Network (HIN), Open Health Information Exchange (OpenHIE), Shiriki, and others. One of the key objectives was to introduce perspectives from networks beyond Eurasia and establish connections for peer learning and exchanges.

Udayasankaran shared AeHIN’s vision, mission, strategic focus areas, and organizational structure and explained the network’s core offerings aimed at supporting the national digital health programs of countries in the Asian region.

The session, which was simultaneously translated into Russian, underscored the critical role of collaboration, communication, and standardization in advancing health information systems across regions and emphasized the need for continuous engagement and capacity building to achieve effective and sustainable health data management.
