The UP Manila Standards and Interoperability Lab (UPM SILab) was invited by the Ministry of Health Nepal to give a presentation on how to set up their own lab.

Dr. Alvin Marcelo and Dr. Miguel Aljibe from UPM SILab shared the lab’s history and tips on selecting a governing board to serve as sponsors.

The UPM SILab, a Philippine-specific lab, is an offshoot of AeHIN’s Standards and Interoperability Lab Asia. In 2016, AeHIN proposed setting up an exemplar interoperability lab to help countries with their capacity-building. This lab (www.sil-asia.org), whose scope was Asia, was initially established at the Philippine General Hospital and then transferred to the Asian Development Bank premises.

As of October 2022, the Standards and Interoperability Lab-Thailand (SIL-TH) stands as the AeHIN Standards and Interoperability Lab (AeHIN-SIL).
