Dr. Alvin Marcelo, a Director at the Asia eHealth Information Network (AeHIN), contributed to the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC)’s August 2024 report titled “Health Data Sharing: Public-Private Partnership Policies to Empower People and Health Systems in APEC Economies.”

The report on health data sharing in APEC economies highlights the critical role of public-private partnerships in advancing health data sharing for improved health systems and economic outcomes.

Dr. Marcelo emphasized the importance of upskilling both the general public and frontline healthcare workers in digital health literacy. He noted the availability of advanced health informatics programs in Asia Pacific universities but pointed out that skills training for the broader population remains limited.

Dr. Marcelo also underscored the need for expanded educational opportunities and better coordination among various agencies to enhance health data sharing initiatives. His insights contributed to shaping policies that support more inclusive and effective health data sharing practices in the region.
